Craft Business - Customer Success Story

Author:Michelle Williams

This week we spoke with Pauline Beesley of Granny Beesley's, who took the leap of faith to start her own Craft Business in August 2017, following a serious health-scare, which forced her to re-evaluate her life.

What did you do before you started your Keepsake Business?

I worked in Education as a Senior Business manager setting up welfare to work programmes across the south of England.  Then in July 2015 I was diagnosed with locally advanced breast cancer. The treatment left me with peripheral neuropathy meaning I couldn't feel the end of my fingers. A friend suggested I started sewing and using clays to get the sensation back, thus began my journey into the world of crafts.

What motivated you to start your Keepsake Business?

After being so seriously ill, I wanted a career I enjoyed and would allow me a quality and flexible lifestyle.  We opened a sweet shop firstly, then with the extra floor space we decided we could do children's pottery painting. Then it was suggested I sell some of the crafts I made in my spare time, then ideas beginn to grow.

Which Training Courses have you completed so far?

so far, I've completed the Ceramic Imprints, 3D Baby Casting and Pottery Prints Training, but in the future I am also planning to attend the 2D prints, Fingerprint Jewellery and Artwork Jewellery Training

Please provide some feedback on your experiences.

Brilliant! I did the 3d casting course first and love it.  The training and support from The Craft Ecademy has been invaluable and would I would also love to do the Cold Cast Metal and Resin Casting Training in the future.

What motivated you to join The Keepsake Guild Ltd?

I joined because I wanted to be part of a professional community, gain access to continued help and support and help differentiate and add prestige to my business.  As a Guild Member, I also get a listng on the Guild Members Directory, which means that customers can find me on the search engines and by local postcode searches.

What is your experience of being a member of The Keepsake Guild? What do you consider to be the main benefits of Membership?

Being part of a community of other professional Keepsake Business owners, who are always happy to offer help and advice withn the private Guild Members forum. As a Guild Member, you also get discount on courses and access to business and marketing resources.

What is your experience so far of running your own Keepsake Business and being part of The Keepsake Guild?

I love working in such a creative field and being able to make personalised gifts for my customers that I know they will cherish forever.

Please provide a bit of background about your Business and your plans for the future?
The business opened in August 2017 and is quickly growing a reputation as a place to buy and create bespoke and personalised gifts.
We believe that the best gifts come from the heart and at Granny Beesley's the customer is at the heart of everything we do.
